Tile and grout is fast becoming the most popular choice when installing new kitchen or bathroom floors. Many people also choose to install tile and grout in foyers, laundry rooms, and on back splashes and counter tops. There are so many choices of ceramic and porcelain that you can accomplish about any "look" that you are trying to achieve.
As beautiful as tile is, it seems after a year or two the floor is increasingly more difficult to keep clean. The tile looks dull and the grout is filthy. This happens even if you’re cleaning the floor often. Unfortunately, most floors are not sealed after being installed. This is where the problem starts. Grout will absorb grease and dirt very fast when it is not sealed. Traditional cleaning methods are not effective in removing the dirt and giving your floor the new look you want.
There is good news! Most tile & grout can be restored to "like new" conditions, or very close to it. This starts with having a professional tile and grout after-care company clean your floors.
Cleaning
We clean the tile and grout with our specialized cleaning equipment. This combination of heat, high pressure and vacuum will remove the dirt build up, allowing the grout to accept the sealant. The next step is the sealing of the grout.
Sealing
When used on grout, sealers close the pores of the grout to prevent penetration of soil into those pores. Sealer is liberally applied to the tile and grout surface, with any excess needing to be wiped from the tile. It is vital to use a high quality, durable, penetrating sealer for this process. Cheap silicon sealers do not last very long. After sealing it is important to maintain the floor using the right cleaning agents and tools. You will not need to use ammonia, bleach or other harsh chemicals. This will only damage the sealer and grout.
Maintenance
Once the floor is restored and sealed, maintain the floors with a professional cleaning and sealing every 12 months. This will keep your floors looking new forever. The sealer will last longer and no more scrubbing grout lines again. See Maintenance Guide for more details.
